Our story is not one of abstract charity; it is one born from shared trauma and a fierce resolve to break cycles of abuse.

RECI was co-founded by Namakula Victoria, a woman whose life is a testament to the profound suffering and resilience of Ugandan women. As a survivor of childhood abuse, an attempted human sacrifice by her own father, a single mother of three, and a widow constantly battling in-laws for custody, Victoria intimately understands the systemic violence and economic disenfranchisement faced by vulnerable women. Even as a successful businesswoman in the tourism sector, she encountered widespread Sexual abuse and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), where the female voice is systematically silenced.

The seed for RECI was planted during a conversation with her employee, Patrick, who spoke of the crisis gripping his home village of Rwamabale. Recognizing her own history reflected in the current agony of Rwamabale, Victoria teamed up with Patrick and local community members to establish RECI. We believe that by empowering the individual woman and child, we not only heal past wounds but build an entire, resilient model organisation that uplifts communities through promoting SRHR and socio-economic welfare for their households.
